Rites of Passage Project Update (February 2022)

A black and white wall mural of Barry Roots and his pigeons!

The pigeons even moved to make an interview possible with Barry Roots. For years, Barry’s record shop was the first place in Bradford to hear the latest imports or sounds brought up from London.

It was also good to return to BCB (Bradford Community Broadcasting) where we were interviewed about the project back in July 2021. This time we were asking the questions and Kath Canoville shared stories of blues parties and growing up in the city.

Filming continues around the city, mainly indoors, including another visit to Checkpoint. Thanks also to the management of Checkpoint for enabling us to record interviews in such a historical and significant location

We are a community project conducting our work mainly in the Bradford South area. We work with people that are marginalized, unemployed and groups with similar interests. We have been established since 2014, but recently converted to a CIO.
